STEM / Brownies Girlguiding Glasgow
Brownies had the opportunity to join together at the City of Glasgow College for a workshop delivered in partnership with BAE System focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) challenges inspired by the Clever Cogs badge produced by Girlguiding North West Region, England and three, young female engineers at BAE Systems. Activities of the day included Balloon Towers to replicate the Burj Khalifa, Earthquake proof buildings made of spaghetti and marshmallows, a mechanical hand made of straws, string and cardboard, competition to fire your rocket as far as it would go, finding out how our personalities would match to STEM jobs and lots more fun STEM activities.

Peer Education / Rangers
Girlguiding Glasgow Rangers participated in a Peer Education Residential Training weekend delivered by Girlguiding Scotland Trainers. This weekend allowed Rangers to complete several training modules to qualify as a Peer Educator. Peer Educators work with members in all sections by leading sessions on various subjects including healthy relationships, youth health and body confidence.

County Camp / Guides
Girlguiding Glasgow & Beyond was the theme of the County camp. An out of this world experience in which over 400 Guides, Rangers and Leaders took part in a variety of activities including a silent disco which could be heard from Outer Space! Main activities included designing cosmic space bags, making bath salts, visiting a Planetarium and learning about space, the planets and stars, an inflatable assault courses and water zorbing, campfire cooking, hot tubs, mindfulness and yoga and activities with the Royal Navy and RAF. Leaders were able to participate in these activities and leadership related activities as well as having their own Cosmic café to catch up with old friends and make new ones. We were very spoiled when Afternoon tea was served.

Afternoon Tea / TG/FoGGGla
Ladies from the County’s Trefoil Guilds and FoGGGla (Friends of Girlguiding Glasgow) enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at our campsite at Gartocharn. The weather was kind to us and we were able to enjoy the campsite looking at its best. It was an afternoon to catch up with old friends, meet new ones to reminisce about guiding memories and hear of developments within the County from Denise Spence, CEO of Girlguiding Scotland.

Kelburn / Rainbow & Brownies
Over 300 Rainbows and Brownies from across the County descended on Kelburn Country Park to take part in James and the Giant Peach themed activities. We helped James hunt for the giant peach in the Dream Forest where we found the Gingerbread House. Thankfully no Rainbows or Brownies were lost in the crocodile swamp when we tried to find the BFG! We made Frobscottle; took part in the Duck Race; followed clues for orienteering in the Great Glen and made toasted marshmallows.

Charnwood / Guides & Rangers
Charnwood hosted 5,000 Scouts and Guides from all over the world and Girlguiding Glasgow was represented with 14 girls and leaders. The camp was themed around Energy with each sub-camp representing a different aspect from light to speed, water to heat and even sound. Activities ranged from crafts, climbing, archery and water sports, mountain biking and STEM activities as well as a Charnwood’s Got Talent competition, an onsite cinema and a main stage with live acts.
